I'm a RE Fan for years, I frew up with this game and in fact was my first horror/ruvival game I played in my life, I've been through all the story and I have my favourite characters, game, music, etc. The movie of RE was THE WORST MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN!!! and I mean no was but IS teh worst. Where's Leon? Where's Claire? What the helle happened to my favourite villian NEMESIS?! NEMESIS is a tough... roude monster that kills and has no feelings!!! U read that right? U got that right? NO FEELINGS!!! he's a killing machine for god sake!!! and what about Milla? I mean she's one of my favourite actress... and in fact she still is one of my favourite but... it's just.. she doesn't belong to this series... nor Alice her character.
The 1 movie could be like a little introduction, like another view of this incident, but why Alice has to be the hero on the 2 movie?! our hero had to be Jill... and... and Carlos which by the way is better on the game than the movie, Oded Fehr is incredible but he wasn't just the handsome... military... attractive guy that we know!! and what about Terry?! or the other characters we see on the movie?
Sincerely I don't like the movie... please do us a favor director and go get the games, PLAY they ALL!!! and then you can go and make a good movie for us, the fans 'cause were still waiting for a good movie of RE!!!
Please!! we need a good movie reflecting what we've been through... what we, the fans, have gone through this games!!
Oh and... another thing... RE ROCKS!!! XD

this movie really sucked i hope the 3 and 4 ones are better the seconed one was really good it has the same plot as RE2&3 and RE3 is my favorite game of the whole sereis oh and by the way when ShadowFox S.T.A.R.S. referes to s.d.perry he is a she DUH it says in the back of the book!

Alrighty, heres my two cents
As a Hardcore RE fan for many of many years, before the movies were even made, a few RE fans like myself were bothering Capcom about the script being made, that we wanted it to stay to the storyline, but failed to do so since Capcom wasn't running the film.
I find it ridicluous though, atleast do some research about the game I mean Wesker's Report had everything, the whole storyline up to date. Resident Evil is so original, it had the common Zombie attack to the Civilians, but not to make it fail they had great storylines, such as the U.B.C.S the betraying Captian of the S.T.A.R.S force, and many more.
I can't see how this game would be changed from it's storyline, it's one of the best series out there from Metal Gear Solid, to Final Fantasy, which is retarted I'm sorry but I can make up th epilot easy for FF fans, you got a bunch of heros who some how meet each other, out of the bunch theres a female who falls in love with the hero and she is in trouble by the end they are together, retarted, so original..fucking please.
on 19 July 2005
*chuckles, while shaking her head in disappointment*
I'm sorry, I am a huge Resident Evil/Biohazard fan. I even write about, and role play my own character. Also I have, or am in the process of checking every aspect of the series out. Even if I don't agree with it. Which includes the very disappointing Resident Evil movies.
I think most people that have enjoyed the movies know very little, to nothing about the games, or it's plot. And those who are fans of the series were disappointed to not see there favorite series come to life in 3D. Which includes all characters, and the original storyline. True that it's an action/horror game, but there is a concept.
Long before I have gotten into the series, I thought the first movie was excellect. With the little knowledge I knew about the Resident Evil game series. I only knew than, that it had zombies and mutants. But that was about it. Until I got myself more familar with playing one of the games of the series. Which was 'Resident Evil: Code Veronica'.
When I had bet the game, I discovered that I loved the storyline, characters, and plot. The whole awesome experince. And since I did, I'd ventured further into the first games as well.
During all this, I started to compare the movies towards the games. And started to realize what everyone was talking about. I couldn't agree with them even more, with the majority of the mass of Resident Evil fans: That the movies in fact, sucked. When I have discovered the first movie didn't even compare to the storyline of the games, a veil of angry came over me.
To me, it's like they were using the substant of Reisdent Evil, knowing it has a huge mass of following fans, to make more money. Only throwing tibits of the games in, here and there. It felt like a total rip-off to me. It became more evidential whn they throw the biggest tibits in the second movie: Jill Valentine, Carlos Oliveria, and Nemesis. Making it seem that they knew that they responible, and have remorse for the first movie being a total disaster. But only for us, fans, to discover that is far from what they felt. When we watched, Jill, a survivor of the Spencer Mansion incident, and one of the first characters of the Resident Evil series; down sized, and mocked upon by 'The greatest Resident Evil character to ever live', Alice. *rolls her eyes*
In the beginning, Alice seemed cool in the first Resident Evil movie. But became an nuisance when I'd discovered that all she did was mimic other offcial, Resident Evil character's moves. Such as Wesker's 'Run-up the wall, punch' from Code Veronica. Which was displayed, and slighty altered, in the first movie. And in the second movie: Claire Redfleid's 'Pretend to drop the gun, only to roll down, scoop it up; and shoot propain tanks behind the bad guys/troopers'. ('propain' Yes, my spelling and typing skills aren't the greatest. But that is not what counts :P) That I found pretty cheesy, and cliche. And do you want to know why? Because they only look cool by the original characters that performed them!
The movies seems to take a lot of elements from 'Resident Evil: Code Veronica'. It is indeed a great game, with a great storyline, music, and characters. But it is in fact, apart of a 'series'. And a game, which the storyline takes place after Resident Evil 2 and 3. After the Outbreak and destrution of Raccoon City.
In all, the movies seem to be like a toss salad of Resident Evil fanfiction. Not concerning themselves if it will meet other Resident Evil fans' standrand, or approval. Mixing and throwing in elements of the Resident Evil series, but selfishly, throwing in elements of their own desires. Without the conception if it will indeed, upset Resident Evil fans. Like S.D. Perry.
Pretty cool writer. He brings in more elements to the series, of Resident Evil. But some of his stories seem premature towards some of the games. Or, it seems he forgets certain aspects of the games, in his books. Such as Jill being apart of S.T.A.R.S. for sometime, before the mansion incident. He stats in his book that she had arrived just a day or two, before the incident. But what about the team picture in the S.T.A.R.S. office, in 2 and 3? A little off the topic, but it relates; Rebecca's picture is later found in Wesker's trashcan. Not because he thought her to be 'hot'. *shakes her head* Because she was considered, but later was hired upon the Bravo team. I don't think Wesker thought Rebecca as being a good canadate for the Alpha team. But Enrico probably thought she was perfect for the Bravo team. That is why she isn't in the team picture. She just started a month before the mansion incident, and Jill was a S.T.A.R.S. team memeber before Rebecca.
I think most believe that their eras will be overlooked by fans. Well, they are sadly mistaked. I think the writers and directors of the movies feel the same way. But when it comes to the games, and fans, they prove to look like idoits. Writing whatever they think should be in the movie, and not concering themselves with what the fans what to see. Plus I believe that most that were involved with the movies, knew little to nothing about the series.
One example proves this: Using cover up upon the news, in the second Resident Evil film, to cover up the whole Raccoon City incident, and masscra. Only for fans to wait and play Resident Evil 4 that says otherwise. *grins* :D That part just amuses me. I think they are getting ahead of themselves, and looking like total retards? ;)
Really, when it comes to movies, books, and comics, you can never be sure if they are affilated with Capcom International Inc. And you gamble with you money upon finding out other aspects of the series. Or to answer a question upon,or about a missing factor of the series.
I know Capcom had something to do with the Resident Evil movies, but they seem like they aren't really involved with the process, or production of the movies. I suppose that is why Shinji Mikami (the creator of Resident Evil) left Capcom. To have his creation construde whichever way others wanted to profit off of it. In a sense, I think he was all about the fans. Concering himself with what they desired for the series, as well as he did.
True, it's nice to see something new, or new characters. But when it comes to the movies, I rather see the original storyline and characters being used.
Even if I know what is, or will be happening, I rather see the whole thing come to life, reality perpective. With real actors and actress portraying the characters. Like they did for the first, original game. When after I played Code Veronica, and came to playing the first original game, it gave me the sensation of joy to see some of my favorite characters come to life. Through real-live action. With real actors and actress.

This series of movies had potential, but in the end like most hollywood productions, the script plot and overall content got completely butchered. The video games were extremely eerie. They were ground breaking and extremely entertaining. The movies? NOT SCARY. Not even entertaining. I'm sure it was enjoyable for anyone younger than 14 but for an adult them? COME ON! I'm pissed i even wasted the money on it. I'll even give you an example; In RE Apocolypse, the main characters are wandering through a cemetary. Suddenly the entire graveyard comes to life with decomposed bodies. How do bodies that have been burried for years become zombies? The majority of this movie just doesn't make sense. UTTER CRAP!!

on 30 July 2003
This movie was 1st class crap at it's best. Never, ever get PAul ANderson to direct a movie. I'm a huge fan of the games, what in the hell is this?! If they continue to show rubbish like this, then may God help us all. Rubbish effects, crappy storyline, shit matrix copy, and what in the hell were those zombies like?! I can honestly say the games delivers more than the movie ever could! Very, very, very dissapointed. Frankly this movie is enough to LOSE hardcore fans of the series, not make them. DO NOT, under any circumstances, whatch this shit. And if your'e a fan of the games, steer well clear you do not want to have your faveroute game done in the crap they have produced here. Never get Hollywood to make games into movies. Have yet to see any good movie based on a game.'Nuff said

Well, I've been a true RE fan, playing all the previous RE games(that excludes the Remake and 0), to find the story interesting,(definitely my type), but felt quite weird about the game producers for 'morphing' the horror base game into a sci-fi action(that's why the Remake is for). somehow, i'm still a fan, looking forward for the 2nd movie(hopefully it'll be better with Nemesis yelling around). The movie is considerably OK, but somehow the BGMs are way too loud sometimes, and kinda silly when you get to know that Alice can go 'street fighter' in the mid part. Man, she's probably so calm that she'd kill all cerberuses in a clip, and the last one with a kick(ouch!). Ya know, i'm kinda disappointed with this movie(well, Code: Veronica has a better story), don't you guys realise that it was short on story? Alice was drag into the hive, half of the 'Sanitation' gang(See the guy's badge?) were cleared in less than 5 minutes, and then immediately on a plan to escape...The only relation of this movie with the game was the title, the city, the nemesis project, the virus, the guns...Nothing more. Dun ya guys feels weird? Alice'd been in the hospital way too long, and she's not infected? Zombies are supposed to crash thru glass windows like they did in RE3, man. And seriously, Alice's lucky to wake up before October 1st, or she'll be history...
P.S: sorry if i had hurt the RE hardcore fans here, i'm also one big fan, but just...ya know, disappointed? The trailer's cool, but really hoped for a reaally scary stuffs for RE(not the sound-effect fright technique). Wish the second movie will return the real RE feel. Just my three cents....^.^

This Movie was the best I've ever seen! It made me jump, scream, and laugh. I can't wait 'till this movie comes out on DVD. I'll buy it the first day it comes out.
on 26 April 2002
Well I had seen the movie a long time ago. But I decided to see it again. But I really didn't pay for the ticket I payed for another movie seen two movies for the price of one. So then I was watching Resident Evil. And there are some bloopers in that movie. They have some seens where the mic for the sounds and stuff. It would hang down from the actor's heads. I don't know if anyone else saw it. But it was kind of funny. A mic just appearing on the top of the screen. LOL You have to check this out. I'll tell you the parts where I saw the mic hanging from the screen. In the first part where Spence throws the T-Virus into the table. And he is fast-walking hitting that guy with the coffee. When the guy goes to the elevator. There will be a mic hanging from the top. Just when that woman is about to talk. And the other part is when Alice and those Special Forces Members go into the Hive. And Alice tells that one guy why she is here. The mic will be hanging down there again. It's just kind of funny seeing it. But I don't know it's probably me. If anyone else sees it please e-mail me. Oh yeah go to my website. I have my own Resident Evil Movie Script that I made. It's not the real movie script but it's just like the game. www.geocities.com/kyle_williams_re2000/index1.html
on 25 April 2002
I think this was one kick ass movie! Evnthough it really didn't have nothing to do with the games, it was still a great movie. It takes a lot for a movie to have me checking my closet.
on 18 April 2002
I liked the Movie and think it's good. I never played any of the games but after seeing this might actually go out and buy it.
What i did find irritating was the mics that kept on popping up.
Anyways .. i give the movie the thumbs up.
on 13 April 2002
From personal experience, I must say this movie ruled. I have never played a single resident evil game in my life, but I enjoyed the movie heartily. I'll admit, a great many things were cliche, but a lot were not. I was hoping the team that was sent in would have a little more common sense. After the damned thing shows it can/will bite you, shoot to kill. Until it quits moving. Dont just look at it all stupid. Anyway, thats usually my big complaint with all undead movies.
on 8 April 2002
great movie exellent! no need to say more !
the movie sais it for it self!!...
on 6 April 2002
Ok, well I seen it, and I love it! I was expecting it to totally suck ass, but to my suprise it was way better than tomb raider and final fantasy, or maybe I just have bad taste in movies,

I thought it was the best movie I have ever seen!I had A few parts that I did not get but I loved that movie. The licker parts and the hellhound parts were my favorite. My secound favorite parts were the zombie parts.I do not know how the dogs turned into the hellhounds. All I know is that the people turned into the zombies because the gas.I would pay to see it again!
on 27 March 2002
I live in england and have seen the movie played all the re games got all the books and know the plot line off by heart. I can't say the movie was fantastic but it was good I can sit though it again and again (like the matrix. The movie ties in with everything from the games. it's set 1 or 2 months before RE1 you know this because the red queen states that the Licker is one of umbrellas early creations.there is no sign of the tyrant or hunters. when the second clean up crew arrive at the end of the movie we hear of the nemesis project and as the movie ends it has flicked forward 3 months after RE1 and the begining of RE3 to when Racoon is a mess and the NEMESIS is online..which is where the Second movie begins (if they create it)but they way things are going now with everyone saying it's crap coz Chirs Jill an Barry wern't in it they might not make it. Some people want it both ways they want a good movie and it to be a copy of RE1..they didn't do the first script (copy of the game) because anyone who has played the games would know that jill chris rebecca and barry live. there is no point in watching a movie where you know what happens.
But if this movie with the same plot characters ending had been made a game no of you would be going on like this. Give computer game based films a break it's the same everytime like Tomb Raider, Mortal KomBat Mario Bros..just because they can't live up to the game is no reason to write them off like this..the RE move was good any hard core RE Fan will see this..any questions about the movie plot of games story line e-mail i'll let you know whats going on
on 26 March 2002
is this a trailer or the entire movie because if its a trailer I am not going to waste my time downloading some dumb trailer with a 56k modem. If it is a full movie e-mail me at MELGARES@prodigy. net and if its not just e-mail me anyway so I dont waste my time.
on 26 March 2002
chessy oneliners, matrix shots, stupid girls voice at end....hmmmm well ask one question. did it make money? why yes it did, do you and your opinion matter on the whole? well fuck of course not. they cant make a movie like the gameing fans would like. you know why? cause there arent enough of us to make a profit for it. so would you rather have a few chessy shots or oneliners and have a movie that we all know is good regardless of that. or have shit cause its based on what we think is right? well?
on 22 March 2002
Thanks, did anyone here ever see if smiley has his page back?
If you know what i mean...
on 22 March 2002
Well, the Resident Evil movie in my opinion, was good. Although I did have a few minor compliants about it. For example, the mansion in the game is named the 'Spencer Estate', not the 'Banks-Delacroix Estate'. But, oh well, at least it had a LOT of easter eggs. For example, Sherry Birkin (Red Queen Computer), Nemesis, Labs from RE2, and WESKER! Yep, at the end of the movie, (when Alice awakes), a shadow passes the screen. Well, it is Albert Wesker from Resident Evil the game. Cool, huh? Oh, and if you check the RE website, you'll see that the Hive is directly under Raccoon City, and that it was attached to the Umbrella labs in the city. Heh, heh....
-Razor
P.S.- The movie takes place 1 month before RE the game. The zombies got into the house via the labs, so there you go. Also, at the end of the movie, it shows a newspaper with the title of 'The Dead Walk!' Well, in the bottom right corner of the magazine, it says a caption like 'STARS dispathed to investigate' or something. So, this tells you that when Alice wakes up, a couple of months could have passed since the Hive incident.
'Bitch isn't standing now..'
on 22 March 2002
to answer ur questions
the person running past the glass is supposedly wesker
on 22 March 2002
Hey I am a big fan of RE and SH, but have a horrible nagging question and it is part of a bet. At the end of RE the movie in the lab, a scene with one way glass is played out. Something moves past the glass, it is to fast for a 'zombie' but according to another moron of whom I have association. And I quote while disagreeing 'It has to be a zombie because it isn't Nemesis because Nemesis is 12 feet tall and huge.'
So the question that plauges me while trying to enjoy a very good movie is: Is it Nemesis?
If not Nemesis, what is it?
Is it a very fast and/or motivated zombie as suggested by the moron?
please enlighten,
wan yo ho no mo
on 21 March 2002
I just figured something out. Why I can like this movie so much, why I think that RE has a very good plot, and some decent characters: I use my frigin imagination! I dont need every little part to be laid out in front of me, I can sit back and fill in my own parts.
Its not scary? I personaly agree, but then again, Ive played all of the games, and am alittle desinsitised to this stuff. Plenty of people in the theatre were screaming.
You guys want fear? Play Silent Hill 1 or 2 for about 2 hours with the lights out, then go look at a picture of a horribly disfigured face for about a second then go back to playing SH. That one will really mess you up
on 21 March 2002
I loved the movie, though I can understand how it would be bad if you havent played the games.
Chengster, Im not trying to trash you at all, but
A) The Nemisis mentioned in the movie is not the one that chases Jill later, its going to come back for the 2nd RE movie to chase Alice around (just look for some info, the second movie is going to pick up right where the first left off)
B) The mansion in the movie was entirly differant from the one in RE1
C) I agree about the Lab in RE2 being the top of the Hive, pay attention tot he map shots of the Hive, theres a decently sized portion on the top, just under ground level. I didnt get enough look to see if it was the same shape as the RE2 one. The RE2 lab also had a giant vertical tunnel in it (possibly leading to the Hive)
on 20 March 2002
Though we may have gone through some mindless banter atleast none of us posted mindless dribble. I have yet to see this movie, though I've heard from a lot of fans of the videogame that its a very cool movie, my friends who watch movies for entertainment told me its pure crap. Who's to say who's right, I'm going to wait until I can rent it.
on 20 March 2002
I just read all of the above posts, and though its been out for a few days and i still havent seen it, it looks kinda cheesy, it looks alot better then they described in the past...either way...for all of those who complain, lets see you guys make a better one? eh?
on 18 March 2002
well guys I just saw the movie, reading your mindless banter. It pretty much fleshes out the games, tells you how zombies got into the mansion, how you go into the hive in RE2, and how the nemesis is created, as well as opening up a new plotline which I think resident evil 4 will be about.
on 17 March 2002
This film looks so cool!
Looks a bit corny but the games were full of corn. Did any of you see Barry?! I live in England so until May i will have to wait. I hope i won't be dissapointed. But if you read any of my other comments you will know i get a bit over excited about everything-especially anything Star Wars or Buffy the Vampire Slayer related!
on 15 March 2002
I review movies for a paper in the DFW area, and to be honest, Resident Evil wasn't very good. It had a lot of style, but very little substance. It bore little resemblance to the game, not enough exposition, and the CGI effects were pretty laughable. The zombies worked pretty good, and the devil dogs looked great, but beyond that, not much to see.
on 11 March 2002
You're All going to Die ;)
And For they who doesn't know, Gandalf Returns as the White, and Gollum is following Sam and Frodo and he'll betrayl em all to Shelob(A giant spider) We'll also see a Oliphaunt ;) and We'll se Faramir, brother of Boromir, and gandalf breaks sarumans staff and wormtongue trows the Palantir at Gandalf but misses and they got the palantiri ;)
Btw, this movie will be good, if you haven't seen, Scream 1, 2, 3 etc. and all other movies!!!

i'm one of the best RE players on the whole videogames history, and i can say that it's an insult to take that movie so far at this instance of not to have the proper story that we can appreciate 'justice' and that is what we wanna see.
we wnt to see the same from the videogames in all productions like final fantasy, like all that movies based on a video game fatally story-change only for plot-like purposes.
the people doesn't really know what happenned with the George Romero's story to be the one used on the movie we are previewing. Everyone interested on seeing the real anthem he wanted to bring , just take this link: www.anewblood.com

Thanks for the childish insult Lord Magnus Lee ('techno-losers' bit), if your wondering I did know about the original development of the RE movie and was looking foward too it. I'm still kinda bummed out about the movie but like I said; it has zombies, it has action, it has a decent story line. This is a movie about a videogame which I heavily enjoyed, I should be very happy that this is possible instead of complaining about it stupidly like I did earlier. I will be there first day of release with a big smile on my face because I'm going to see a movie with all the things that makes my inner child scream for joy.
Yes Mortal Kombat was a very enjoyable film and the best game to movie translation yet.
SilentKnight666 is a really nice guy and he's helping me appreciate the RE games much more. Just wanted to send out a public thanks to SilentKnight666 for being a nice friend.
on 8 March 2002
*taps shoulder* Hey Lord Lee, read my first post. I think I might be one of the few who know where you are coming from. Its the truth that when Hollywood gets 'creative' with already drawn out plots and themes the results can be disastrous. As for most game movies made which were horrible, Wing Commander, Street Fighter (God rest Raul Julia's soul), Mario Bros, Final Fantasy (Good fx, poor story) and Mortal Kombat Annhilation (They lost Christopher Lambert and had too many characters for movie time). As far as I'm concerned the only good game movie adaptation is the first Mortal Kombat. Well, there goes my two cents.

Far be it for me to try and say that I am above the comment of anyone else on this message boards... However, most of you, (who ar efar too numerous to name have no idea what you are talking about. So I am just going to make a few observations of comments I have read. For one. I would definately pay money to go see a movie that is little more than a carbon copy of the game. Shouldn't that be the point. If you are going to give a movie the same title and stigma of a video game, shouldn't it BE the video game? When you think about it, isn't that one of the biggest failing which prompts the statement of 'all video game based movie are terrible.' If they for once followed the game perhaps audiences would enjoy it more. I know I would. Little known fact that most of you hapless techno-losers probobly don't even know, the movie was originally slated to BE just like the first movie and was directed by a man by the name of Romero (director of Night of the Living Dead). Unfortunately, as is often the case, big-shot Hollywood producers, who don't really know anything about what people want, decided to scrap that promising project and creat some kind of moronic dribble of a plot and stick it with the Resident Evil title. So YES it WILL suck! But if it had only been left alone it wouldn't have!
on 7 March 2002
You all... What are you thinking?? I'm not sure if any of you have read the Resident Evil novels by S.D. Perry but if you haven't you need to check them out, it will help you understand the plot a WHOLE lot better. Resident Evil has a very intresting plot on my side.. Umbrella, a company that owns half of the world with millions working under them, they are the world power, but they are also the destroyers of the world. Can you not see that? No one can stop them. No one will believe the S.T.A.R.S. unless they want to be assassinated by Umbrella. Now, about the movie, everyone needs to quit whining. Think, if it were Chris and Jill as the main characters, and the rest of the S.T.A.R.S. at the Spencer Estate, wouldnt you know the story already and know everything thats going to happen? That would be homosexual to pay for a movie that I can watch and play on the playstation or pc. I believe this was a decent idea to change story and characters around. One more point, RESIDENT EVIL will be the first zombie movie that has been made in ten or twenty years!
on 5 March 2002
Well TekunoRobby you can IM me whenever you feel the liberty to, of course that goes for anyone if they want to talk to me about Resident Evil. Anyhow, I'll be there as well opening day. March 15 is only 2 weeks away.
on 3 March 2002
SilentKnight0666 I thank you for your opinion and I respect it very much and I'm glad you responded to what I posted. I think we are both approaching things from a different angle. I'm being extremely critical and very harsh when I criticized the RE games on thier plot and characters. I do think they present an enjoyable story and also enjoyable characters. For the genre and the market the game is directed for I think they stuck a brilliant balance between depth and simplicity. The Story isn't really that complex or unique but its simple enough to really get you involved, same with the characters. If you want I'll still IM you but not to argue, its silly to argue about things that we basically agree on. Just informing people since I gained a bit of infamy on being harsh on this movie, I will be there first day of release. Although I'm still a bit unhappy with the direction of the movie I'm positive I will enjoy watching it. Afterall its silly to complain about the film when I am lucky enough to have it produced.
on 2 March 2002
I think this movie will be all right cause I think they should have kept the game's story line...i mean come on!!! But I think the makers thought about and maybe they thought this WOULD be better..yuh never know!!
on 1 March 2002
If anyone is interested in playing in a text-based RE RPG taking place after CV then IM me on AIM at SilentKnight0666 . Or if some of you want I can post the link here. It is ran by Beseen Chat, and questions just ask.

Sure, I have to addmit, the movie doesn't look that great. I didn't read the script, but from what I heard it didn't seem that great either. But you know what, I'm going to go see it anyway. You know why? Cause I'm a huge RS fan, plus, its got action and I like that kind of stuff so hey. Yes, I too was pissed that the movie does not feature the main chris and jill characters (and I agree with you Sammy about the japanese designers) but what can we do about it. I still love the game and even if the movie sucks oh well, its not going to make me stop loving the original RS.
on 27 February 2002
Stop trashing the movie because it isn't like the game. You will still pay to see or rent it on video and you know it! It might just have a little surprise in it that you weren't expecting. Stay out of my crosshairs.
on 24 February 2002
The game's plot, while hackneyed and cliched, was also quite involving, and, somehow, pretty much thrilling. This lame excuse for a movie - I am referring to the thing with the plastic coathanger 'jovovich' billed on top - is a plotless, scriptless, cretinous ripoff of Hal Barwood's 'Warning Sign', with scene-only ripoffs from other movies, notably 'The Matrix' and 'Aliens'... all that topped by horrendous 'acting' (some 'actors' are even worse than jovovich, as impossible as it might sound...) and a dreadful noise 'music' from the redneck moron who calls himself 'marilyn manson'.
I think the original Japanese designers should have taken to making this movie when George Romero dropped it...
on 22 February 2002
First off, there is a plot to RE, my friends. You obviously overlooked that as you hit start each time a cutscene or dialogue occured. And although I agree that this movie might dissapoint many, the fact that the original storyline and characters sucked is hardly substantial. The main characters, and plot were well developed as they progressed through the story. True, that it may seem similar to other horror films it is hardly a cheap rip off. They explained, in depth, the creation and motives behind the mutations (due to the T-Virus), and the role the corrupt Pharmaceutical company played. The only reason why RE:GZ will be a flop is because they ignored the original storyline and characters. I, like many, are very pissed that we will not see Jill and Chris take center stage. Instead we get cheesy matrix scenes and a group of 'commandos.' Honestly, I think they were better off with Romero as the writer and director instead of that damn Mortal Kombat creator. At least he would've stuck with the storyline and characters. And now we have a licker as a villian? I don't care if it may be a cross of a licker and hunter, when I shoot it with a submachine gun its gunna die! The lack of Tyrant appearance is also a mistake on Constantine's part. There are NO S.T.A.R.S. and no real thought behind the story. And for the commandos to be anything but UBCS's would be another stupid turn. No one knew about Umbrella's experiments, especially the government besides the S.T.A.R.S. later on. I think like some other game-movie adaptations, this one will be a dissapointment. But no, TekunoRobby, I think you are wrong in most of your assumptions about RE. In fact, if you want to talk personally my AIM sn is SilentKnight0666. IM me and I'll see exactly where you get your opinions.
on 16 February 2002
I've read script reviews, thats why I'm naturally pessimistic about the movie considering the material sounds like fluff. Oh well it could be a fun to watch movie but its kind of depressing the director didn't take a chance to create a good movie out of the original source material. The_Incredible_Rich makes a very good point (you should go read his post) but still its despressing that this movie is so damn cliche and unoriginal when there are so many good things they could have done with it.
on 16 February 2002
Why Don't you give the movie a chance, you all haven't even seen it so you can't say it's a BAD IDEA, that trailor just showed short shots of dudes running around from zombies and what not. Some trailors even have parts that arn't even in the real movies so don't just say the movie sucks, give things a chance for once. You never know.
on 16 February 2002
Personally I really want this film to be very cool and have awesome characters with a cool plot line. Its just not going to happen, it was doomed since the beginning. It doesn't matter if its before the original game or after it. Its still based off the series which has had traditionally really pathetic story lines. I'm sure it'll sell well to the ignorant mass market movie going crowd but a good movie its not.
on 14 February 2002
I have faith here, too. Milla is top :D
Blasting zombies sound fun. Is like Serious Sam. Plot is the worst ever but is an awesome game. Mindless killing made by a babe. Drools :D
on 13 February 2002
ok look you guys....something you don't seem to get...This movie is BEFORE Resident evils 1-Gunsurvivor....it's Resident Evil Zero...Ground Zero...Took place in Raccoon but it was before the S.T.A.R.S. team got involved. And the main monster in this was a giant licker that looked like a combo of the Licker and of the hunter and also grows stronger wtih every kill of an un-dead creature.
on 11 February 2002
Dear RE is awesome:
I'm glad that I suck, I'm also glad that you love the RE games. I also like the RE games a lot too. They were fun and enjoyable for thier time. If you notice my post I never mentioned anything about the gameplay being bad, I was just talking about the plot and characters. Many will say that these two subjects are crucial to a movie's quality. If you have both poor plotline and unlikeable characters then your not going to have a very good movie. Resident Evil wasn't ever about characters and story, it was only concerned with action and fear. Which is perfectly fine for a videogame considering most people play games only to amuse themselves and don't ecpect to be blown away by brilliant storylines (you FF fans please go scurry away and read a decent book or atleast play a PC RPG). I'm personally quite excited about the remake of Resident Evil 1 for the GameCube along with the rest of the series. I will play the part of a prophet and I predict this movie will be terrible. Even if I was only considering the material in which this movie was based off of I would still assume it to be terrible. There are some script reviews on the internet and all signs point to bad.
on 11 February 2002
i love all the re games... except survivor, hopefully the re movie will be good, to my point of view it will probally be the baest movie ive seen all year, some of the carcters though werent even in the game and why is jill wearing a red dress while going into combat, anyways i would still want to see the movie
on 9 February 2002
K whatever TekunoRobby, u suck! The RE games where awsome man! Sure the plots were sometimes pretty pointless but a game that grants u the ability to go around shooting off zombies heads and leaving a bloody mess? What more can u ask for? And I said the plots r pointless, not crap. I think they make sense. I'll give the garbage thing for RE1 and maybe survivor or Code Veronica, or even RE3, But RE2 was awsome the characters were awsome the plot was awsome and the videos were just pure sweet. But seriously the only one that really sucked was survivor(they just totally screwed it over with first person thingy and the plot was horrible)So all I have to say is who's with me!!!Yhea rock on RE and keep making awsome games Capcom . And as for the movie, well I've seen the trailor and the cheezy comedy kinda sucked but I still wouldn't mind seeing being a huge RE fan. LOL AND SINCE IT'S RATED R I HAVE TO DRAG MY MOM SO I CAN ACTUALLY SEE THE FREAKIN MOVIE!!!
on 8 February 2002
uggh... Count me out of this one..
on 7 February 2002
OK.....first time ive posted here but I couldnt help it, ok i havent watched the trailer for it buuuut I am one of the daring few who are privy to a lot of information/production photos/scripts of up coming movies....and one of my associates told me not to read this one.......not because its clever but because its supposed to be a movie based on the game which has giant spiders, lickers, zombies and skinless dogs.....it will not be the greatest movie of all time purly because it is not ment to be, its for all those that enjoy a beer and pretsels while watching a gory movie...... if you talk about direction and the like you are making it out to be an attempt to lift the crown off Citizen Kane...come on guys... know what your talking about before yall start arguing about direction, u aint seen the movie yet....check out the website for it, you may be impressed how they have used the original story from the first game (your telling me that you thought that the acting in that was good?!?!?!?!?) and updated it to make it as realistic as it could possibly be.....it will be a horror movie, however, more like alien, than aliens.
on 6 February 2002
The commercial itself was terrible. They changed the basic idea of Resident Evil.
Resident Evil is a horror story, they made the movie an action flick (BAD IDEA).
The actors suck (BAD IDEA).
The main badguy thing is that dude with the tounge, not some cool Nemisis like figure (BAD IDEA).
The zombies are laughable, not scary (BAD IDEA).
The commercial's narrorator sounded like some computer program thing when it SHOULD have sounded freaky to get the tone of RE going (BAD IDEA)..
So basicly, this movie is a BAD IDEA!
on 6 February 2002
Milla is there, so who cares about the movie....
But I think it will be nice and bloody
on 5 February 2002
First of, its no Hollywood-positive.
Second, the movie will have great carakters (Milla 'The divine' Jovovich -always a right decision- will rip off Hollywood suckers clan)and Michelle Rodrigues
Third, it will be bloody.
And the pics from the film looks great
It will be absolutly great
on 2 February 2002
I now finding a final fantasy 9 game.Play it on the PC but i go to a lot of the web page but cannot find.Eer...can u help me to find the FFIX game playing on the computer.if u can find pls reply to me.O.k? sorry for calling u to find. But i really want to play FFIX on computer because i don't have a PLayStAtIoN.
on 2 February 2002
What can I say.... Are they going to pull this off. The only thing that would most likely to be good from this is the special effects. I hope that there will be some meaning to this and not just a rip off from the game.
on 2 February 2002
The Resident Evil game was more lik a soap opera. But with creepy zombies the film will be fun, too! They have to put many aspects from the game into this movie!
on 31 January 2002
This wil most likely be the crappiest of all game-based movies. None of these movies ever have a good plot, but at least final fantasy had amazing computer graphics to admire and tomb raider... well... it had the 'equipment' of angelina jolie to admire ;)
In any case, I believe this movie will be _BAD_
on 30 January 2002
Ok whats the point here. They are basing this off a game which was based off of bad B horror films. Not only are the directors faced with the 'all videogame movies are horrible' curse but they chose the most idiotic game to base a movie off of. Granted the Resident Evil games were fun, but the plot and the characters were pure garbage. I hope they atleast get creative with the Resident Evil universe with this film but knowing Hollywood this movie will positively be horrible. First Tomb Raider (a shoddy and cheap movie) then Final Fantasy (horrible plot and characters), and now this film. Will the cruel punishment ever cease?
on 29 January 2002
same old rubbish....matrix shots....stupid girls voice at the end..cheesey oneliners as per usual....'you are all going to die ' jesus...give me strength!
Dumb ass hollywood directors with sod all talent as usual!
on 29 January 2002
the final fantasy games have kick ass storys
need i say more LOL =)
on 27 January 2002
Most movies based off of video games are terrible. I have faith in this one though. It's actually based off of a video game that has a plot, so maybe it has something going for it.
